Stuffing Recipe

stuffing recipe

First, I should start by saying that my family's Thanksgiving would not be possible without our family friend Louise. When my mom first met Louise, she couldn't cook (sorry mom, but it's true). Luckily Louise took my mom under her wing and taught her a few things. So every Thanksgiving we give thanks to Louise for giving us these yummy Thanksgiving recipes!!

3 large potatoes
1 lb ground beef
1/2 loaf of bread
1/2 bag herb sage dressing mix
1 tsp sage
2 eggs (beaten)
1 stick butter
3 chopped celery
1 chopped onion

  1. Peel, cube, boil, and mash the potatoes. Save the leftover water that you boiled the potatoes're going to use this water in step 7.
  2. Brown the ground beef and drain the excess grease.
  3. Toast and crumble the bread.
  4. Mix the sage dressing with 1 tsp sage.
  5. Combine the mashed potatoes, ground beef, toast, eggs, and sage dressing.
  6. In a separate bowl microwave cook the butter, celery, and onion. Then add to the other ingredients.
  7. Add the saved water (from step 1) to the mixture to make it super moist! Don't worry if it looks too moist...that's perfect!!
  8. Put in a 9x13 glass dish and cook at 375 for 1 hour 15 minutes.

We typically cook the stuffing the day before Thanksgiving/Christmas. Then on Thanksgiving/Christmas day we pour chicken broth over the stuffing, cover, and reheat in the oven. You don't need to do this, but it saves a lot of time!
